In many offices between its inhabitants there are undeclared “wars” for the right to own a thermostat, which is connected with a different understanding of such concepts as “warmth” or “cold.”

Currently, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is experimenting with testing all possible technologies that improve comfort in office premises while reducing energy costs. For this purpose, a closed box with an area of 23.2 square meters was specially created. meter, where they placed office furniture with heating and cooling. A special infrared camera keeps track of when someone in the pilot office starts to freeze or becomes hot.

The sensors installed in the room monitor the concentration of CO2 alternately in 20 versions with the supply of hot and cold air. The goal of scientists is to improve the interaction between individual devices responsible for the internal climate, which inevitably leads to energy savings.

Technologies to maintain a comfortable climate are becoming popular among an increasing number of companies. According to the representative of NREL Dana Christensen, there is a real opportunity to reduce the operating costs of buildings while improving their internal comfort. This will benefit everyone – the inhabitants of offices, their owners and operators.
